The LA Chargers head into the 2022 NFL Draft with multiple directions to potentially take with the 17th overall pick. There are multiple roster needs that the Bolts could address but a lot of what the Chargers do with the 17th pick is going to be determined by what happens before the Chargers are on the clock.

And of course, whoever the Chargers end up taking in the first round is going to have a ripple effect on the rest of the draft. Whether someone high on the Bolts' board that they cannot pass on falls to 17 or they draft for need, the 17th pick is going to shape the entire draft.

Cornerback is one of the biggest draft needs for the Chargers in the 2022 NFL Draft but it did not seem likely that they would take a corner after signing J.C. Jackson. The only realistic way the Chargers would draft a corner, or so it seemed, was if someone like Derek Stingley Jr. fell to 17.

However, cornerback could be the position the Chargers draft at 17.

Daniel Popper of The Athletic explained that the team is not that high on Michael Davis anymore and decided to pick cornerback Trent McDuffie on the NFL Stock Exchange podcast. Knowing how much Staley loves cornerbacks, if he indeed is not high on Davis, then corner very well could be the top priority in the 2022 NFL Draft.

With this knowledge in mind, we decided to conduct an LA Chargers mock draft with the Bolts taking a cornerback in the first round. To conduct the mock draft, we used The Draft Network's Mock Draft Machine. Without further ado, let's dive into the cornerback that the Bolts took.
