Those selected during the 2026 NFL Draft aren't the only rookies who have a chance to make the LA Chargers' roster in 2026. As is the case every year, the Chargers signed a slew of undrafted free agents once the draft concluded.
UDFAs are a key part of the roster building strategy and at times, can act like the lottery for a team. Los Angeles knows this all too well considering the greatest tight end in franchise history, and one of the greatest in NFL history, was a UDFA who never played college football.
If just one of these UDFAs can be 30% as impactful as Antonio Gates then it will be a massive win for the Bolts. As it stands, the Chargers have 18 bites at the apple.
Chargers sign 18 UDFAs after 2026 NFL Draft concludes
- Noah Avinger, S, Utah State
- Lander Barton, LB, Utah
- Jerand Bradley, TE Kansas State
- Sincere Brown, WR, Colorado
- Jahmeer Carter, DL, Virginia
- Gregory Desrosiers, RB, Memphis
- Devin Grant, S, Syracuse
- Jacobian Guillroy, DL, Louisiana State
- Niles King, OLB, San Diego State
- Devonte Ross, WR, Penn State
- Rodney Shelley, CB, Georgia Tech
- Avery Smith, CB, Toledo
- Jacob Spomer, C, Fresno State
- Evan Svoboda, TE, Wyoming
- Nadame Tucker, OLB, Western Michigan
- Terry Webb, DL, Southern Methodist
- Jeremiah Wilson, CB, Florida State
- Isaiah World, T, Oregon
The most notable name on that list is Western Michigan edge rusher Nadame Tucker. Tucker was one of college football's biggest breakouts last season as he led the country with 14.5 sacks after never having a sack in his college career.
That breakout happened under Chris O'Leary, who spent one year as Western Michigan's defensive coordinator before getting hired to replace Jesse Minter this offseason. The edge rusher room is deep, but Tucker has a chance because of his connections to O'Leary.
Jerand Bradley and Evan Svoboda will both naturally have a chance at making the 53-man roster thanks to the lack of depth at the tight end position. Los Angeles signed Charlie Kolar to complement Oronde Gasden II, but the room outside of those two is up in the air. Expect the team to also sign a veteran free agent.
Isaiah World is another intriguing prospect as a six-foot-eight tackle. World needs to clean up his pass protection, as otherwise he would have been drafted, but he has the physical tools. In a perfect world he sits on the practice squad all season because the Chargers don't need to use him, but there is some long-term depth possibilities if he puts it together with NFL coaching.
Running backs are always the most intriguing UDFAs, as they represent the best chance to find a diamond in the rough. While the Chargers don't need to add another back to the room, Gregory Desrosiers will still be an interesting watch during camp and the preseason.
Desrosiers isn't a true every-down runner but he has real pass-catching upside and doubles as a return specialist. With Derius Davis' future up in the air, Desrosiers added skill set as a returner could grant him opportunities in the future.
