The biggest story surrounding the LA Chargers right now is whether or not the team will be able to lure Jim Harbaugh away from Michigan to fill the team's head coach vacancy. Harbaugh officially met with the Chargers on Monday and if he was ever going to make the jump back to the NFL then there is no better time than now so he can coach an elite, franchise quarterback in Justin Herbert.

There have been conflicting reports about Harbaugh's future and it is clear that nobody truly knows what he is going to do. That is exactly the situation Harbaugh wanted to create as it gives him more leverage over both the Chargers and Michigan.

All that being said, there have been some signs that Harbaugh's decision may already be made. Whether it be reports about his love for Herbert or J.J. McCarthy deciding to not run it back, Chargers fans have definitely realized all of the writing on the wall regarding his future.

The most recent potential sign might just be the most telling, though. On the same day that Harbaugh interviewed with the Chargers, Michigan's top recruit in the 2025 class decommitted from the program.

Michigan losing key prospect might be telling of Jim Harbaugh's future with the Chargers

This is not rare in college football and it is something that happens all the time. Especially in the NIL days of college sports, a prospect decommiting from one big program to play for another is not something unheard of.

That being said, the timing of this is very interesting. That is not to say that a current high schooler has intel on exactly what Harbaugh is doing this spring. But this does signal that there are at least some concerns and if Harbaugh was the selling point for Michigan, it makes sense for Ewald to decommit.

It is little moments like these that might not feel like much now but if Harbaugh chooses the Chargers then we will all look back and realize that the warning signs were there. All the stars are aligning for Harbaugh to join the Chargers with each piece of new intel supporting that vision.

Of course, nothing is official as of yet and the Chargers still need to conduct more interviews to meet the Rooney Rule requirements. But at this rate, it might just be a matter of time until Harbaugh's introductory press conference in LA.
