The LA Chargers traded Keenan Allen last spring and instantly replaced him with one of the best young slot receivers in the league, Ladd McConkey. Now, the Chargers have the opportunity to get both beloved weapons in the same offense.
Long after hopes of a reunion faded, the Chargers re-lit the Allen spark by working him out after the team's win in the Hall of Fame Game. While no reunion has yet been reported, the writing is on the wall for Allen to come back home.
Most Chargers fans want to see this reunion happen, although there is a small contingent of the fanbase that thinks Allen is too redundant with McConkey already on the roster. Those fans should just listen to McConkey himself, as the now-sophomore wide receiver loves the idea of Allen coming back to LA (h/t Up & Adams).
“Keenan's one of the best to ever do it.”

Ladd McConkey echoes Chargers fans with latest Keenan Allen comments?
Convinced yet? If not, let us paint you a picture.
It's third and goal from the seven-yard line late in the fourth quarter. The Chargers need a touchdown to take the lead against the Kansas City Chiefs. With McConkey lined up in the snap, Allen motions from out wide near the line of scrimmage, stacking one side of the formation with two of the crispest route runners in the league.
Do you know what that sounds like? Comfort. And that is exactly what Justin Herbert needs out of this Chargers team. By reuniting with Allen, Herbert will have yet another weapon that he is comfortable throwing the ball to.
Sure, Allen may no longer be in his prime and that is totally okay. Do you know what nobody in the history of football has ever said at any point in time? That a team has too many passing weapons.
McConkey knows how special Allen is as a player and anyone worried about Allen stunting the growth of the young receivers should view a reunion with the same perspective as McConkey. Instead of stressing over a rookie's snap count going from 60% to 40%, fans should instead think about the intrinsic value Allen would bring as a veteran in the locker room.
Plus, if KeAndre Lambert-Smith or Tre' Harris are going to be good pros, they are going to be good pros. Giving them slightly fewer snaps in the regular season isn't going to suddenly stunt their growth and turn them from exciting young players to duds.
The Chargers have the money, they have the roster space, and they have the familiarity with Allen. McConkey obviously wants to see it happen and any Chargers fans who differs in opinion should jump on the wagon.
