The New York Giants are undergoing quite the change ahead of the team's home matchup against the LA Chargers in Week 4. Head coach Brian Daboll has decided to end the Russell Wilson experiment after just three weeks and has officially turned over the starting job to rookie Jaxson Dart.

Dart is not the only new face who may suit up for the Giants in a starting capacity on Sunday.

The Giants also may be rolling out a new kicker who Chargers fans are very familiar with. Graham Gano is currently dealing with a groin injury he suffered prior to Week 3's primetime matchup vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. To combat that, the Giants have officially signed former Chargers kicker Younghoe Koo to the practice squad.

Giants sign Younghoe Koo right in time to host the Chargers

It's unclear whether or not Gano will suit up for the Giants on Sunday with Koo serving as insurance. The Giants obviously have some level of concern about Gano being ready to go and brought Koo in the building early just in case.

Koo was released four days earlier by the Atlanta Falcons after a successful seven-year tenure with the team. The former Chargers kicker missed a game-tying field goal against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1 that led to his benching and eventual release.

This wasn't a case of Koo missing just one kick and getting the ax from the Falcons. The once top-line kicker really struggled in the 2024 season, making just 73.5% of his 34 field goal attempts. This was quite the fall from when he led the league in field goal percentage at 94.9% back in 2020.

Koo was a perfect example of a kicker finding new life once they left the Chargers. Koo's Chargers tenure was short as the team let him go in favor of Nick Novak in 2017. After a brief stint away from the NFL, Koo returned with the Falcons and established himself as one of the best kickers in the sport.

Thankfully, the Chargers' kicker situation is better than it has ever been. Cameron Dicker has established himself as one of the best kickers in the league, recently setting the record for the best field goal percentage ever with at least 100 field goals attempted.

Koo may not even play in this game if Gano is healthy and ready to go on Sunday. But if Koo is in the game, hopefully he does the same thing he did when he was with the Chargers: miss kicks.
