Chargers can make a huge WR trade during camp (but not who you think)

The Los Angeles Chargers still need wide receiver help, so a bold trade before or during camp could be on the table.

The Chargers are not alone in needing more help at wide receiver, but fans have to be getting tired of it at this point. The 2025 NFL offseason represented a key transition for the team as they look to go from 'good' to great in the coming year.

LA won 11 games in 2024 and made the playoffs, a huge improvement from their five-win 2023 season. Well, one of the areas the Bolts needed to get better was at wide receiver. They brought back long-time wide receiver Mike Williams, but he's already on the PUP list.

They also took Tre Harris in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he and many other second-round picks are still unsigned ahead of camp. All of a sudden, the Chargers do need more help at the position, and this disgruntled wide receiver on an NFC contender could be a perfect fit.

Should the Chargers call the Washington Commanders about Terry McLaurin?

The long-time Washington wide receiver is not mincing words, either:

McLaurin turns 30 years old in September and has had five-straight 1,000-yard seasons. He's also not missed a single start over the last four seasons and had a career-high 13 touchdowns in 2024 for the Commanders. Furthermore, McLaurin has not caught fewer than 77 receptions since the start of 2020, and he's never had fewer than 919 receiving yards at any point in his career.

Overall, Terry McLaurin might be going on 30, but he's one of the more consistent and perhaps underrated players in the entire NFL. Washington did swing a major trade for Deebo Samuel this offseason, so they were hoping to field a lethal duo with Samuel and McLaurin, but at this point, you have to wonder if Terry McLaurin would actually prefer a trade?

If so, the Los Angeles Chargers have to pick up the phone, as McLaurin and second-year wide receiver Ladd McConkey could quickly become the most productive set of receivers in the NFL, and acquiring McLaurin could make life a lot easier for other WRs on the depth chart.

If LA is trying to go all-in and get to a Super Bowl while overtaking the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, this type of move would need to be made.
