Arizona Cardinals: Budda Baker

The most common answer for the Arizona Cardinals is DeAndre Hopkins and there obviously is nothing wrong with that answer. Hopkins would be a pick similar to DK Metcalf as it would give the Chargers the best receiving corps in football.

However, Hopkins is getting up there in age and while he would undoubtedly have a massive impact, with the receiving corps being good already, I would rather take 2020 All-Pro safety Budda Baker.

So why didn’t I take Jamal Adams from Seattle? Well, Adams is more of a linebacker than a safety at this point and is not great in coverage. With Derwin James and a decent linebacker room, I would rather have Metcalf.

Regardless, Baker is a better all-around safety and would give the Chargers the best safety duo in the league. Baker is a strong safety, like Derwin, but the safety position is rather positionless in the league nowadays and with James’ versatility the Chargers could make the most of it.

Baker also benefits from his versatility and playing in the box but I like his coverage a lot more than I like Adams’ coverage.

At the end of the day, Brandon Staley is one of the best defensive minds in football and the things he could do with Baker and Derwin anchoring the defense would be truly special. Hopkins would also be a great fit, but I lean slightly towards Budda Baker.
