LA Chargers: Ranking every linebacker taken in the first round by the Bolts
By Jason Reed
1. Junior Seau
Uh, yeah — this is about as big of a no-brainer as you could have. This is like asking who the greatest running back in LA Chargers’ history is. There is no other answer than LaDainian Tomlinson, and in this case, there is no other answer than Junior Seau.

Seau is undoubtedly the best defensive player in Chargers’ history and is considered by many, if not LT, as the greatest player in LA Chargers history. Seau was the best linebacker of his generation, is a Hall of Famer and will forever go down as one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history.
The Chargers selected the Oceanside native with the fifth overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft and the rest is history. Seau played 13 seasons for the Chargers and was a Pro Bowler in 12 of them and an All-Pro in six of them.
He is one of the greatest all-around defensive players in league history. He could get to the quarterback, could make reads in coverage and was elite in stopping ball-carriers in their tracks. People just didn’t get by Junior Seau and a lot of the team’s success in the 90s is because of Seau.
It is a shame that the Chargers could not deliver one of the greatest defensive players in league history a Super Bowl ring. He came close with the New England Patriots, but it ultimately was not meant to be.
There will never be another Junior Seau and Murray should not strive to be that. However, there is a very good chance that if things go as planned, he finds himself high up on this list.
