LA Chargers: Three players who will disappoint in 2020
By Jason Reed
3. Tyrod Taylor
To be fair, not everyone is as bullish on Tyrod Taylor as Anthony Lynn is but there definitely are those Tyrod Taylor fans in the Charger fanbase that expect him to do big things for the team in 2020.

And there is nothing wrong with that. It makes no sense to no support the starting quarterback of your favorite team but personally, I find it a bit harder to get excited about Tyrod Taylor. I think he is a fine quarterback, but I think the ceiling of this team is 10 wins and maybe one wild-card round win. That is it.
Taylor is not going to come out and reinvent the wheel. He has not had an actual full season of being a starter in three years and even then, while he did not do enough to necessarily hurt his team, he was not elite, either.
Over a month ago I broke down the numbers and if you really compare the two, Tyrod Taylor is essentially the same quarterback as Marcus Mariota with fewer interceptions. But if Mariota was the quarterback, I doubt there would be as much excitement.
I hope Taylor proves me wrong, I really do. In watching his film I just do not see him being the guy that is going to be able to win the Chargers game when they need him to. At some point, they are going to need him to.
Taylor is merely a transition quarterback for Justin Herbert, who is likely going to be given time to learn and adapt to the league before taking over the starting job. Let’s keep the expectations reasonable.
