3. Deesmond King

This is a situation where Desmond King would not be part of a bigger deal where he is just thrown in to free up salary cap space and maybe get an extra late-round pick. This is a situation where King could be in the forefront of a trade for the LA Chargers to move up in the draft.

More from Bolt Beat

The Detroit Lions are the perfect destination for King as the team needs more help in the secondary after trading Darius Slay. I could absolutely see a package that includes the sixth overall pick and an assortment of other draft picks along with King to move up to number three.

The Lions would be getting secondary help in King and would probably still have a chance to draft Jeff Okudah with the sixth overall pick. Even if that is off the board, they would be able to draft an offensive tackle.

I would not even rule out the Chargers trading back into the first round and including King that way. I could absolutely see the Chargers trading the 37th pick, King, a future second and a future third to move back into the first.

King had a down season last year after a Pro Bowl season in 2018 and he is going to have a new role in 2020. With the addition of Chris Harris and the loss of Adrian Phillips, King is going to slot into that versatile role in the secondary that Phillips previously had.

While King would be extremely important if he plays better in this role, there is a chance that he looks more like his 2019 self than his 2018 self. With only one more year under contract, and several other more important players to handle after the 2020 season, King becomes movable.

Some fans hate the idea of the LA Chargers trading Desmond King, and I do not blame them. He is a fan-favorite. However, don’t rule out the idea, as it absolutely could happen.
