Los Angeles Chargers to host joint practices with Saints
By Travis Wakeman
It has been reported that the Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints will have joint practices together later this summer.
As a team navigates through the hot, physical practices of training camp, it’s always nice to see a new group of players come in to challenge itself against.
That will be the case when the Saints visit the Chargers at the team’s new trainig facility in Costa Mesa. The practices will take place just prior to the preseason game the teams will play against each other in August.
Fans will get to see Drew Brees practice against his old team. Other big name players who the Chargers will be able to test themselves against will be Adrian Peterson and Michael Thoma, to name just a few.
Last season, the Chargers held joint practices with the Arizona Cardinals just prior to facing them in the preseason. The Chargers won that game 19-3.
In the case of Brees, he’s suddenly seeing a lot of his former team, or at least a lot compared to when he first left for New Orleans in 2006.
From 2006-16, Brees faced the Chargers just twice. However, the teams played in Week 4 of the regular season last year and will now see them again in August. Brees is 3-0 all-time when playing against the Chargers, including last year’s 35-34 win.
Of course, preseason games aren’t about wins and losses, but this is still a good squad for the Bolts to test themselves against.

Though only a few teams participate in joint practices each year, the Saints are clearly a team that feels it gets something from the workouts as the team has worked with the New England Patriots and Houston Texans in years past.
More details will be announced, but the teams are scheduled to play on August 20th, so you can expect these practices to take place that week.
