Who should be Chargers starter: Malcom Floyd or Dontrelle Inman?
By Ernie Padaon
Is Malcom Floyd worthy of being a starter? He has all the experience in the world and is one of the players that can stretch the field for a long catch, but that is the limit of his production now. This offense is built for the short crossing routes and that is not where Floyd will excel. This offense is built for receivers that can get quick separation and produce after the catch. That is not Floyd.

This will be Floyd’s last season in the league and he has been a great story. He worked hard to get off the practice squad to become an NFL starter. He has a great chemistry with Philip Rivers and will be able to go over the top in the passing game, but is there a better option for the team sitting on the bench?
Dontrelle Inman made an impact filling in for the injrued receivers on Sunday. With Stevie Johnson and Malcom on the sideline, Inman finished the game with 88 yards and almost took his long reception to the house. He showed that he could turn those short crossing routes into a huge gain down the field with his wheels. Any time that he has received significant playing time, he has made an impact. Should he get his shot to start now?
We had also seen the same type of impact from Tyrell Williams during the preseason. He made the opening day roster and could be brought up this week to fill in for the injured receivers this week. He has that ability to break off a long run from a short crossing route. He is not deserving a taking a starter’s role at this point in his career, but he should get the opportunity to get some playing time if he is brought up.
Keenan Allen and Stevie Johnson are the top targets at wide receiver for this team. Who should be the 3rd receiver on the field with them? Should it be Malcom or should it be Dontrelle?
