By Ernie Padaon
The San Diego Chargers have signed Arena Football star Michael Huey.
The San Diego Chargers need help on their offensive line and they made a move in hopes of bringing more depth to the roster on Tuesday. The team signed OG Michael Huey onto the roster, per Michael Gehlken. Huey is a 3-time All-AFL selection and he participated in the veteran combine earlier in the month.

Huey first entered in the league in 2011 out of Texas. He went undrafted and tried to make the roster with the Chargers and also tried to make the roster with the Seattle Seahawks. After failing to catch on with any of the rosters, he then signed with the Arizona Rattlers with the Arena Football League and has since won 3 championships with the Rattlers. He has also been selected to the All-Arena team all three seasons that he played in the league.
Huey added 9 receptions and 3 touchdowns in his career. We could toss him in on some goal line sets as an eligible lineman and could go out for a route if needed.
We will see what he can do in training camp. He tried to make the Washington Redskins roster in 2014, but wasn’t able to stick again. He will have a tough battle in training camp for a roster spot, but he has shown all that he can to the Arena football world. He now wants to get a chance in the NFL.
The San Diego Chargers are always willing to sign players from the other football leagues in order to give them their opportunity in the NFL. The team gave Cordarro Law and Dontrelle Inman a chance last season and they helped contribute to the team. They both will be given the opportunity to make the roster again this season. Huey will be hoping to prove his value as well.
The Chargers also released G/C Jeff Baca and DL Chas Alecxih.
