Randy Gregory scheduled to visit San Diego Chargers

The San Diego Chargers have set up a scheduled visit with Randy Gregory. Gregory failed his drug test during the NFL combine.

Nebraska DE Randy Gregory failed his drug test at the combine and the possibility of him sliding to the San Diego Chargers increased. After the news broke, the San Diego Chargers quickly made it a point to bring him in for a workout.

If Gregory is available when the Chargers make their selection, he would be a steal. Gregory is expected to be a top 10 selection in the draft, but the latest news of his failed drug test has made him a possibility.

The San Diego Chargers need help on the defensive front. He would immediately give the Chargers a player they could start at outside linebacker with Melvin Ingram and Jerry Attaochu. That would give the team a solid rotation at the position.

Dwight Freeney and Jarret Johnson are no longer on the roster to help on the outside. The team is still looking for some depth at the position and could use their top selection in the draft on someone who could fill that role.

Would they take a chance on Gregory though. Gregory knew that he was going to get drug tested during the combine and he still was popped positive for marijuana. That doesn’t seem like the smartest player in the world. How long would it take till he is suspended for his drug use?

The move would be risky for the San Diego Chargers to make in the first round. I don’t know if the Chargers would be willing to take that risk on Gregory. They could just look in another direction, but it definitely is worth bringing him in for a visit. If he is a good fit and if he can stay clean, the Chargers will get a steal.

Would you add Randy Gregory to the defense if he slides in NFL Draft?
