Eric Weddle voted AP first-team All-Pro

San Diego Chargers S Eric Weddle has been selected to the AP All-Pro team again. This is his 5th straight season in which he has been selected to the team. He was voted AP first-team All-Pro for the second time in his career. He was also selected on the first team in 2011 (Michael Gehlken).

The last time a San Diego Chargers player that is not named Weddle was selected to the All-Pro first team was in 2009. Nate Kaeding was selected to the first-team in 2009. In 2007, the Chargers had 3 members selected to the All-Pro First-Team when LaDainian Tomlinson, Lorenzo Neal and Antonio Cromartie were selected to the team. We need to get multiple All-Pro players on this team again. The only other current player that has been selected to the All-Pro team is Antonio Gates.

Weddle is the most recognized name on the Chargers defense. He was the only player to be selected to the Pro Bowl on the team this season. The team has some players that are capable of making it to that level,

In 2014, Weddle led the team in tackles with 114. He forced a pair of fumbles during the season and had an interception. Weddle is getting recognition for being one of the top safeties in the league.

The Chargers need a few more playmakers on the roster. The team could use more pass rushers on defense to force some bad balls from the quarterbacks. We could use another safety to line up with him in the secondary. We could use some linebackers to make the tackles in front of him.

Weddle has done a great job. He has been a great safety. He just needs some other players to step up around him. Corey Liuget has been great. Melvin Ingram is great when he is healthy. Hopefully he can stay healthy. Manti Te’o has shown some potential in the middle.fac

There are just some weak positions on the defense that could use an upgrade. We could use someone to take the defensive end spot from Kendall ReyesDonald Butler needs to step his game up. The safety spot next to Weddle could be upgraded.
