Wide receiver is an important roster need for the LA Chargers to fill this offseason and there are quite a few options for the Bolts to consider. Investing in the trenches may seem like the No. 1 priority after watching what the Philadelphia Eagles did to the Kansas City Chiefs. Let's not forget the Eagles also have premier wideout A.J. Brown, who they took a big swing to acquire.

With ample cap space and draft resources, the Chargers could take a swing for a star wideout this offseason. One of the biggest names tied to the Chargers is All-Pro Davante Adams, who is reportedly intrigued by playing in California next season.

Adams is still under contract with the New York Jets and a trade should be completely off the table for the Chargers given his contract. However, Adams becomes a very intriguing free-agent option if he gets cut by the Jets. This always seemed like Adams' likely future, and on Thursday, it became even likelier.

In a move already expected throughout the league, the Jets officially announced on Wednesday that the team is parting ways with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

It was already reported by several NFL insiders that the Jets were likely going to move on from Rodgers this offseason. The team outright coming out and announcing that decision is the final nail in the coffin for what was an otherwise disappointing tenure for Rodgers in New York.

Rodgers' departure all but confirms Adams will soon be on his way out of New York as well. The entire reason the Jets traded for Adams was to appease Rodgers. With Rodgers no longer around, the Jets don't need to pay the lofty salary-cap figure for Adams when they should be focusing on Garrett Wilson's future.

New York will do its due diligence and shop Adams around to see if any team is interested in trading draft capital for him. The draft capital cost will not be high as the new team would absorb a bloated salary.

That bloated salary is going to make it very hard for the Jets to trade him. Chargers fans just have to hope that a desperate team with cap space (who misses out on Tee Higgins in free agency) doesn't swoop in and trade a sixth-round pick for Adams.

An Adams trade is still on the extremely unlikely side, which will lead to him being a cap casualty for the Jets. From there, Adams would be free to sign with any team with an obvious interest in coming to California.

The Chargers should and will be interested as long as the price is not too steep. If the price is reasonable, Adams very well may be a Charger in a month when NFL free agency opens.
