Reason why the Chargers might lose: Injuries to an already suspect defense

As mentioned, the Chargers were absolutely torched in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins. Granted, Miami has one of the best offenses in the entire sport when it is healthy and this was very much a statement game for both Tua Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel.

Not every opponent that the Chargers are going to face is going to be as good as the Dolphins are offensively. However, that is still no excuse for how unprepared and overmatched a healthy Chargers defense was.

Brandon Staley is a defensive head coach and the Chargers have allowed the fourth-most points in the league since he was hired. That is the main reason why fans have grown impatient and why they have to be wary, even against a team without an explosive offense like the Titans.

Tennessee has the perfect type of offense for the Chargers' defense to get back on track. The only problem is that this already suspect Chargers defense is going to be dealing with some significant losses. Both Joey Bosa and Eric Kendricks missed practice on Thursday. Behind them, Daiyan Henley and Chris Rumph were limited.

We could see some second and third-stringers out there at some important positions for the Chargers. That is a scary thought after Week 1.
