Predicting the Chargers' final nine games after clawing back to .500
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers lost back-to-back games coming out of the bye week and it appeared that the season was slipping away. However, with two consecutive primetime games on the horizon, the Chargers had one last chance to right the ship and potentially go on a playoff run late in the season.
That is exactly what the Chargers did as the team comfortably beat both the Chicago Bears and New York Jets to climb back to .500 on the season. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done if the Bolts are going to make the playoffs in the crowded AFC. But fans at least feel much more confident now than they did two weeks ago.
But do fans feel too confident? Let's dive into the final nine games of the season, predicting where the Chargers will go from there with the new injuries and updates that we are aware of.
Week 10 vs Detroit Lions: Chargers loss
When we did this article back after the bye week we actually predicted that the Chargers would get a shocking win over the Lions (so far we have gotten every game right after the bye week in those predictions).
However, things have changed for the Chargers, mostly with the offense. Joshua Palmer is not going to be playing in this game and Austin Ekeler has not been the offensive catalyst that Chargers fans were hoping he would be.
As a result, this Lions game becomes much tougher for the Bolts. While the Chargers' defense has been playing at a higher level, this Lions offense is the best offense the team has played since Week 1. We all remember what happened then.
With a struggling offensive line and limited offensive weapons, this feels like a matchup that will force the Chargers to come back down to earth.
