The biggest LA Chargers free agent this offseason is undoubtedly wide receiver Mike Williams. While some may argue that Kyzir White is more impactful, Williams is absolutely the biggest name that is going to receive the biggest contract this offseason.
Williams has a career year in the first year of Joe Lombardi's offense, setting a new personal best in receptions and receiving yards. Not only was Williams great on the field but he actually stayed on the field as well. After some injury concerns earlier in his career, Williams put together his third season in a row of only missing one game.
Based on the comments that Tom Telesco, Brandon Staley and Justin Herbert have made, all signs are pointing to Williams coming back in 2022. If the two sides cannot agree on a new contract the Chargers always have the franchise tag in their back pocket and they have more than enough cap space to use it.
However, the LA Chargers need a plan B if Mike Williams walks away in free agency.
We have already broken down the five teams that could look to steal Williams' services from the Chargers and have the cap space to do it. If Williams does end up signing away to one of these teams, the Bolts are going to have to be aggressive in who they replace him with.
The team cannot afford to simply let Williams walk without properly replacing him. Not every available receiver is an ample replacement for Williams this offseason, either. Here are the five receivers that would actually be ample receivers.
