How to watch Raiders vs Chargers in Week 1 with and without cable
By Jason Reed
After months of waiting the Jim Harbaugh era will officially begin on Sunday as the LA Chargers open the season against the Las Vegas Raiders. Harbaugh has already changed the culture of the organization without even playing a game so fans are beyond excited to see how that translates to the field.
There is no better opponent for the Chargers to open the season against as well. Not only do the Chargers get a chance to take it to their biggest rivals, but the Raiders are one of the worst teams on the schedule in 2024. On paper, this is a great game to ease into the 2024 season.
Football fans are out of practice when it comes to watching their favorite team and if you find yourself wondering how to watch the game don't you worry — we have you covered.
How to watch Raiders vs Chargers on TV:
As is the case with most Chargers home games (but not all), fans will be able to catch all the action on their local CBS provider. The only other late game that is competing with Raiders-Chargers on CBS is Seahawks-Broncos. Below you can see the coverage map, with areas in red representing where the Chargers-Raiders game will be broadcast (via 506 Sports).
Out-of-market fans who will not be in the coverage map can watch the game with a Sunday Ticket subscription. It is the only way to watch out-of-market non-primetime games in 2024 and can be purchased through YouTube TV.
How to stream Raiders vs Chargers without cable:
If you are in the coverage map for the Raiders-Chargers game and are looking to watch the game without cable then your best bet is going to be subscribing to Paramount+.
Paramount+ allows in-market fans to watch their specific game every week for no additional cost to the monthly subscription fee. In the weeks that the Chargers do not play on CBS fans will not be able to utilize Paramount+, although they will be able to watch their locally broadcast game via the service.
Raiders vs Chargers game details:
- Location: SoFi Stadium
- Kickoff time: 1:05 p.m. PT
- Forecasted weather: 88 degrees Fahrenheit with 44% humidity
- All-time record: Raiders lead 69-58-2
It is going to be a hot one in SoFi Stadium, which is an open-air roofed stadium that still feels the heat of a warm Southern California afternoon. That should not really change much, though, as both teams are desert teams at the end of the day.
The Raiders got the best of the Chargers in the last matchup in beat-down fashion, winning 63-21 in Brandon Staley's last game as a head coach. Vegas also has the all-time advantage against the Chargers, although it has been more tilted in the Bolts' favor in the last two decades.
The next time these two teams meet will be Week 18, where the stakes might be much lower. By then, the Chargers will hopefully still be in the playoff hunt but it is hard to imagine the Raiders being in the same boat.
