Week 17 at Denver Broncos
It might seem strange to call a matchup against a divisional opponent a trap game but that is exactly what this has the makings to be. By the time the Chargers play the Denver Broncos in Week 17 of the 2023 season, there is a good chance that the Broncos are not even in the playoff picture.
Broncos fans are going to hype up the team again because of Sean Payton and while anyone would be better than Nathaniel Hackett, there are still legitimate issues with this team. Russell Wilson is not the same quarterback he was three years ago and the lack of depth on this team should be concerning.
In the NFC you could make the case for the Broncos to fight for a playoff spot but in the loaded AFC with a tough schedule, chances are the Broncos' playoff hopes will be over in Week 17 when they host the Chargers.
They are still going to look to play spoiler against their divisional foe and they might end up doing it if the Chargers are not careful. Playing in Denver in January is already a really tall order and doing so as a trap game makes it very scary.
This Broncos game is sandwiched between two home games against the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. Los Angeles will be looking to make a statement in those games to secure better playoff seeding and in the process runs the risk of overlooking the Broncos in Week 17.
