3 biggest winners from Chargers' joint practice with Saints
By Jason Reed
Kenneth Murray
Kenneth Murray's stock on the Chargers has not been this high since he was a rookie. And at that point, Murray did not have a single NFL snap under his belt and the stock was only high because the team traded up in the first round to take him.
The first three years of Murray's career have been underwhelming as there was an obvious jump to the NFL style of play. Throw in a massive defensive change under Brandon Staley as well as a lingering injury in his sophomore season and it is not hard to see why he struggled.
That being said, fans still kept themselves from buying into Murray in 2023 and expected the fourth-year linebacker to struggle and potentially even lose his starting job. While he has not proven himself yet in-game action, Murray has been one of the biggest standouts of camp.
That continued into these joint practices. It was not a perfect day of work for Murray but he showed far more positive signs than he has in any point prior in his career. Not only has he looked great in his reps, but he is getting buy-in from his teammates as well, which is the ultimate testament.
Murray won't get much a chance to show this in preseason action, so it is a great thing that he showed it during these joint practices. Hopefully, it translates to the regular season.
