The LA Chargers have had a pretty strong offseason thus far. While it has not been as flashy as the 2022 offseason, the team was able to bring back several key free agents. Those that weren't brought back were replaced, and in the case of Eric Kendricks, seem to be viewed as an upgrade by the team.

There is still plenty more left on the to-do list for LA before the 2023 season begins. The 2023 NFL Draft has not even happened yet and that alone is going to inspire the Bolts to make several different moves.

As far as we are concerned, though, there are three very specific moves the Chargers could make that would make this a perfect offseason, all things considered.

3 moves that would make this the perfect Chargers offseason:

3. Chargers sign John Johnson II

The Chargers have a hole at safety with Nasir Adderley retiring from football and JT Woods not proving that he was NFL-ready in year one (while also potentially making the move to corner). While someone like Brian Branch might intrigue the Chargers in the 2023 NFL Draft, the team could also go back to free agency to add some help.

John Johnson II has seemed like the most obvious free-agent signing that the Chargers could make for quite some time now. He has ties to the coaching staff in Brandon Staley and new linebackers coach Jeff Howard and should be available for relatively cheap.

This checks all the boxes of being this year's version of the Morgan Fox/Bryce Callahan signing. A cheap, low-key move that ends up paying big dividends for the team next season. Perhaps the Bolts are simply waiting for the 2023 NFL Draft to come and go to make this happen.
