Chargers training camp officially got underway this week with Chargers fans in attendance to watch their favorite team gear up for the 2023 season. While the Bolts did not have as big of an offseason as 2022, the excitement levels are still very high heading into what could be a very promising 2023 campaign.

Fans are thrilled with how the team looks thus far in training camp but it is important to remember that every single NFL team is going to look good in practice. They are professionals, after all. Instead of looking at it in the scope of the entire team, fans must instead focus on the individual battles that are going on in camp right now.

There are several young players in particular that have been taking full advantage of camp and are setting the table for what could be an exciting 2023.

3 recent Chargers draft picks who are thriving at training camp:

Quentin Johnston

The 2023 first-round pick has been everything as advertised thus far in Chargers training camp. Fans desperately begged for a jolt of elite athleticism in the Chargers' WR room and that is exactly what the team added when it selected Quentin Johnston with the 21st overall pick.

Johnston has easily had the most highlights from the first week of training camp as he has fans daydreaming about what role he will have in the offense. Even in a stacked WR room, Johnston has the potential to turn in weekly highlight reels with his athleticism and ability to make defenders miss.

Granted, there are aspects of an NFL game that are different from practice. That goes without saying. The biggest knock on Johnston was his inability to make contested catches down the field and we won't truly see how he fares in that department until he comes up against true NFL defenses that are looking to hit him.
