4 Chargers we already know will be gone after the 2023 season
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers are six games into the 2023 season and it has been a massive disappointment thus far. Los Angeles has staggered out to a 2-4 start to the season and with a tough schedule in the second half, many fans have already kissed the playoffs goodbye.
This is a sad reality that the team faces as the Chargers are certainly talented enough to make the playoffs. The front office went all-in on contending this year and it looks like the Bolts may simply have a disastrous season that never gets off the ground.
And unfortunately for some, this will be the last season that fans get to see certain players in the powder blue.
4 Chargers we already know will be gone after the 2023 season:
1. Austin Ekeler
Austin Ekeler requested a trade in the offseason as he and the team could not come to an agreement on a contract extension. While the Chargers ultimately showed good faith and gave Ekeler some incentives to earn more money, it likely will not be enough to repair this relationship moving forward.
Ekeler already seems to be out on head coach Brandon Staley and after this past offseason, he may already be thinking about where he will play next. It is hard to blame Ekeler for potentially feeling that way, especially because next offseason is his last chance to get a pay day in the NFL.
It is hard to pinpoint what Ekeler's market value will be, especially if he does not turn his 2023 season around. One thing is for certain: there will be another team in the league that offers Ekeler more than the Chargers will be willing to offer him.
