It wasn't always pretty, but Justin Herbert and the LA Chargers comfortably beat the Las Vegas Raiders to move to 8-4 on the season. It was yet another multiple-possession loss for the Raiders, and now, it appears their star player has had enough.
Maxx Crosby has been one of the few bright spots of a terrible run of seasons for the Raiders. Crosby has established himself as one of the best edge rushers in the sport, and at some point, there is going to be a breaking point. Great players like Crosby can only take so much losing.
Well, that breaking point may have happened in the fourth quarter against the Chargers. Herbert was celebrating a first down during the Bolts' game-ending time-sucking drive. This upset Crosby, who decided to shove Herbert to the ground long after the play was over.
Crosby was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, giving the Chargers an extra 15 yards. The All-Pro edge rusher tried dapping up Herbert after the play explaining that Herbert was yelling in his ear (even though he wasn't). Herbert wasn't having it.

Maxx Crosby reaches his boiling point vs. Chargers
Look, we get it. There's only so much losing one player can stomach and Crosby has done A LOT of losing. It's even worse when every offseason the team convinces itself that its latest big swing is going to be the one that finally changes things! Except time and time again, it doesn't work.
The Raiders are 45-67 since Crosby joined the team. They haven't had a winning season since 2021, which is the only winning season of Crosby's career. Las Vegas is 6-23 the last two seasons. It's been as bad as it possibly can be.
There also isn't an easy solution for the Raiders. They play in arguably the best division in football and don't have any answers at quarterback. Sure, they could draft a quarterback in April, but the 2026 NFL Draft is shaping up to be worse than the 2027 NFL Draft.
And we all know Geno Smith isn't the answer. In reality, the Raiders will probably take another flier, just like they did with Smith, and it won't work out. That's been the Raider way.
It'll be interesting to see what this means for Crosby's future. He's clearly frustrated with the lack of success, and it wouldn't be all that surprising if he's the next star that demands a trade (although he's been loyal to the Raiders to this point).
Crosby has one more season under contract and would save the Raiders over $30 million in cap space if he's traded. If Crosby cares at all about winning, he'll take advantage of the leverage he has entering the final year of his contract to force his way to a contending team.
And if not, he's destined for another year of mediocrity on the Raiders.
