Jim Harbaugh's reaction to Justin Herbert's ridiculous play was perfect

We've got one question for Justin Herbert and Ladd McConkey: HOW?

For those who watched the Los Angeles Chargers rally in the final minute to take a 29-27 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, you probably had the same one-word question for Justin Herbert and Ladd McConkey as one of the most entertaining and unbelievable plays of the season unfolded.

How?

For those who didn't see it live or haven't yet seen the highlight, we'll break things down momentarily. But for those who did, we're thinking Jim Harbaugh's assessment in the aftermath summed it up pretty perfectly.

"That play will be burned in my mind until they throw dirt over top of me," Harbaugh said.

Okay, that's enough suspense. Let's get into it.

Down 13-9 after 30 minutes, the Bolts came out and scored 17 unanswered points to open the second half to take a 26-13 lead, only to watch the Dolphins fire back with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, the second coming with just 46 seconds remaining to give Miami a 27-26 advantage.

Following a 40-yard kick return by Nyheim Miller-Hines that gave the Chargers the ball on their own 41-yard line, Herbert kicked off the drive by avoiding a sack on first down but was unable to complete a short pass to McConkey over the middle.

And then it happened,

Facing 2nd-and-10, Herbert was again pressured and looked as if he was going to be taken down by Dolphins edge rusher Jaelan Phillips. And we're talking completely wrapped up here. Take a look.

But he somehow managed to escape, looked to his left and found McConkey, who then worked a little magic of his own, juking Miami safety Dante Trader Jr. out of his cleats before scampering all the way down to the Dolphins' 17-yard line for a 42-yard gain. Hassan Haskins deserves some credit for a fantastic block in there as well. Here's the play in its entirety.

After a few short runs by Kimani Vidal, who had a phenomenal day with 124 yards on just 18 carries, Cameron Dicker came in and connected on a 33-yard field goal to give the Chargers the victory.

Here's how Herbert described what went down.

"It's a race against time. A throwaway is better than a sack, and I was doing my best to just get the ball off," Herbert said. "The play before, they played good coverage, got the ball off thankfully, and saved some time.

"Then the next play, went through my reads, had to step up in the pocket, and Ladd did a great job just running across the middle, making a play and extending the play."

McConkey knows Herbert's a pretty humble guy, so he said what everyone else was thinking: "Kind of see Justin, left, right, switching the ball. So, for him to even find me and hit me, amazing play by him."

As Harbaugh mentioned, it's a play that won't be easy to forget and could be one that the Chargers potentially look back on and say saved their season.
