The LA Chargers already have the best uniforms in the NFL, and they might be getting even better during the 2025 season.
As great as the current set of uniforms are, there has been something missing since the team made the change back in 2020. The current uniform set is missing the classic navy get-up that was a staple of Chargers teams of old. While the Chargers have an all-navy uniform, it doesn't compare at all to what fans have yearned for.
Those yearnings may turn to a reality in 2025 — that is, if the latest batch of rumors come true. Sources told Andrew Lind of SportsLogos.Net that the Chargers are among several teams who will unveil a new alternate helmet in July. The report doesn't specify that it will be the navy helmet, but Chargers fans can read between the lines.
Chargers may bring back beloved navy helmet per latest rumors
The Chargers are due to make an addition or change to the uniform set that has been static since the 2020 season. As great as the uniforms are, there is always room for innovation, and in this case, to bring back a case of nostalgia.
As trivial as it sounds, the Chargers' navy helmet has been a topic of discussion for quite some time among Chargers fans. The team has seemingly even teased the helmet in the past but nothing ever came of it.
This would be a universally beloved decision by the fanbase, something that is incredibly rare in today's day in age. It does not matter what uniforms the Chargers wear the helmet with, or if they unveil an entirely new uniform, fans will love the taste of the past they are getting.
However, the Chargers are also playing a dangerous game by unveiling an alternate helmet. If the Chargers do indeed bring a new helmet into the rotation, and it isn't the classic navy helmet, fans are not going to be happy.
The Chargers have to bring back the navy helmet for this to be a good decision. Anything other than the navy helmet won't be good enough. At that point, the Chargers would be better off just keeping the current helmet the team uses.
Either way, fans won't have clarity on the helmet situation for another two months. All we can do is wait and hope the Chargers make the right decision.
