The Chargers have a new starting center. After weeks of speculation on names like Tyler Linderbaum or Connor McGovern, it ends up being neither of those players. Tyler Biadasz agreed to a 3 year, $30 million deal after visiting the team yesterday. Biadasz was eligible to sign before the free agency window after being cut by Washington. Daniel Popper of The Athletic first reported his visit with Los Angeles.

Biadasz was the 11th ranked center out of 40 by PFF’s metrics in 2025. He had above average grades in zone and gap run blocking in addition to blocking out of true pass sets. For his career, he has a 98.0 pass blocking efficiency via PFF. Last season, Biadasz allowed 3 sacks and 21 pressures via their charting. Biadasz played 16 games this past season with Washington before being placed on IR with knee/ankle injuries.

One offensive line hole down after the Chargers signed Tyler Biadasz, two to go.

It’s worth noting of course that as a result of being cut by Washington, Biadasz will not count to the comp pick formula. Even if the Chargers end up being big spenders this offseason, that is probably something GM Joe Hortiz will be monitoring.

Signing Biadasz to a lesser contract than what Linderbaum or McGovern will make also gives the team some flexibility. Every cent counts as the Chargers have to figure out what to do with their other two starting offensive line spots. Do they retain Zion Johnson? Odafe Oweh and Khalil Mack are also still set to hit the open market next week.

Based on how the Chargers have previously structured three year deals, Biadasz’s first year cap hit will likely be less than his reported $10 million AAV. This should leave the Chargers with still well over $90+ million in cap space to operate with.

While this addresses LA’s top need at center, the Chargers will need to still need to be aggressive in fortifying the starting line and depth. Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt, and Biadasz are the only offensive linemen on standard contracts for the team. G Ben Cleveland, OL Branson Taylor and C Josh Kaltenberger are on futures deals. They’ll likely still have to make offensive line a focus of the draft even if they do shell out cash in free agency.

But the Chargers have at least locked down one starting spot with Biadasz. There are two spots left to be decided now at RG and LG.
