The LA Chargers welcomed wide receiver Mike Williams back to the team in a new video documenting his first 24 hours at "The Bolt".
The video includes Williams getting to see both old and new faces. He greeted training staff and equipment managers that he was familiar with from his first Los Angeles stint. Williams also got to talk to Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh for the first time since his release in 2024.
In the clip of the two meeting, Harbaugh happens to provide a positive health update. Back in October against the Broncos, Harbaugh had an atrial flutter episode on the sideline. He said going into the offseason that he'd likely need to have a cardiac ablation procedure done again to correct the issue. At his season-ending press conference, Harbaugh said that he would have a hip replacement surgery done in addition to the ablation.
It appears that both procedures are already complete for Harbaugh by mid-March. The Chargers head coach said this after Williams asked how he was doing:
"Got my hip fixed, got my heart fixed. All patched up," Harbaugh explained. "I'm a new man! With a new energy! Attacking a new day."
Chargers' Jim Harbaugh provides positive health update
It's good news for Harbaugh, who spent a lot of time on the sideline last year walking with a noticeable limp. The hip replacement should help the 61 year old Chargers' head coach in the upcoming 2025 season.
As for the heart procedure, it wasn't new territory for Harbaugh. He had two previous ablations performed to correct his heart rhythm back in 1999 and 2012.
He underwent a mid-season ablation in 2012 after an atrial flutter episode during a 49ers Monday Night Football game he coached. This time, Harbaugh elected to get the procedure done after the Chargers' 2024 campaign.
It's good news on the health front for Harbaugh, who can now get back to coaching the Chargers with his usual "enthusiasm unknown to mankind".
