We'll take it.

Alright, everyone. Let's ignore the fact that the LA Chargers have won just one game out of their last four and it happened to be a close contest against the Miami Dolphins. It's still early. We're going to think positive and look ahead ... or something like that.

The Chargers get a quick turnaround after their latest loss against the Indianapolis Colts and will face off against the Minnesota Vikings at home. The Chargers have dealt with plenty of injuries this year, which is nothing new to this fan base. But, it's an injury on the other side that may give L.A. an edge in this one.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy has missed the past six games due to an ankle injury and, in his place, they have had veteran and now-journeyman Carson Wentz manning the starting position. Some fans might have expected McCarthy back at this point, but Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell just confirmed the plan for Thursday night -- and it won't be the second-year pro.

The Vikings will be rolling with Wentz yet again, and that could play into the hands of Jesse Minter and the Chargers.

A reeling Chargers defense gets a distinct advantage going up against Carson Wentz on TNF

For those who may not have been following the Vikings closely, Wentz delivered his worst performance of the season this past weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles. Some of his throws even had fans wondering things like, "Does Carson Wentz think he still plays for the Eagles?"

Wentz finished his day with two interceptions and looked abysmal, overall. Make no mistake about it. McCarthy is far from a finished product, but Vikings fans would much rather have him starting the game than Wentz.

The Chargers defense has to be licking their chops in what could be a get-right game going up against the league's 21st rated passer in Wentz. For what it's worth, Wentz checks in even lower if we're basing it off of true QBR -- look down five spots and you'll find him at 26 overall.

Wentz has been sacked 14 times in his last four games, which isn't necessarily out-of-this-world production by opposing defenses, but it's notable. The Chargers are 28th in the NFL in sack percentage over their last three, and Wentz certainly provides the type of turnaround this unit is looking for.

Meanwhile, the Bolts' defense has given up an average of 30.6 points per game over their last three. This certainly feels like a recipe for L.A. to take back control and come out with a win. As long as they can pressure Wentz, this defense is going to force a few turnovers.

Wentz starting equals an advantage for the Bolts, period. And, at this point, fans will gladly take it.
