LA Chargers fans have yearned for the team to bring back the navy helmets (and retro navy uniforms) and it appears the fanbase may be getting its wish. Reports circulated earlier in the week about the Chargers introducing a new alternate helmet, which opens the door for a new uniform set.
As the team with the best uniforms in the sport, any time there is speculation the Chargers are making a change it is going to get national attention. After all, if the Chargers add another uniform combo everyone is going to have to adjust their best uniforms rankings.
FanDuel's Kay Adams is certainly interested in whether or not the Chargers are bringing back the navy, so much so that she asked general manager Joe Hortiz about it on Wednesday. Hortiz starting dancing around the question masterfully, but likely revealed more than the team's PR wanted him to reveal.

Joe Hortiz opens Pandora's Box with Chargers' uniform response
Hortiz was hitting all the right PR-approved notes when he danced around the question and said that he was not part of that process.
Then he went on to say that there was a photoshoot that was curtained off and even he couldn't see what was going on inside. While Hortiz didn't reveal anything specifically, him revealing that there was even a secret photoshoot to begin with tells fans a lot.
What else is there to be secretive about that Hortiz wouldn't know about? Hortiz obviously knows about any player or coach that is joining the team, so it has nothing to do with personnel. Even if it was a secret interview for a project the team is working on, Hortiz would likely be clued in on who was interviewing and why.
The only explanation is that the Chargers are getting ready to unveil the long-awaited navy helmet. That, or the team is going to break the fanbase's heart by revealing a new alternate helmet that is not the much-desired navy look.
