The LA Chargers have a real opportunity to go from playoff team to true Super Bowl contender this offseason. Los Angeles established an exciting foundation in Jim Harbaugh's first season and now have more resources to add to the roster moving forward.
A strong offseason of spending mixed with a complete 2025 NFL Draft class will push the Chargers over the edge. The most important of those picks comes at No. 22, where the Chargers will hope to land someone who can have an immediate impact in their rookie season.
In a perfect world, the Chargers would land one of the two premier first-round tight end prospects in this year's class. Penn State's Tyler Warren and Michigan's Colston Loveland are both very exciting and would add an instant jolt to the Chargers' offense.
Much like how Brock Bowers had a preferred choice that wasn't the Chargers last year (not that it mattered as he landed with the Las Vegas Raiders, anyway), it appears that Warren has a preferred choice as well and he is not being shy about it.
Warren grew up a fan of the Washington Commanders and made it fairly clear during Super Bowl media week he would love to play for his favorite team and catch passes from Jayden Daniels.

Tyler Warren sounds like he wants to join the Commanders, not the Chargers
Thankfully, the Chargers pick higher in the 2025 NFL Draft than the Commanders so the team does not have to worry about Washington stealing Warren. Washington has the 29th pick in the draft, seven selections lower than the Chargers.
That being said, a dual-threat tight end of Warren's caliber would really elevate the Commanders' offense and these comments may be enough to influence the team. Washington could theoretically trade up to usurp the Chargers to take Warren, which would be an issue.
This is all assuming Warren doesn't get taken very early in the first round of the draft. Warren is a legitimate top-tier prospect and after Bowers' success in 2024, NFL teams may be more willing to take a tight end early in the first round.
Warren falling to the Chargers at 22 is a bit of a pipe dream with or without the Commanders being involved. That is why many are projecting Loveland to be the one who falls to the Chargers (that, and because of his Michigan ties to Jim Harbaugh).
But if Warren does somehow fall to the Chargers then Bolts fans will always have the thought in the back of their mind that he wanted to join Daniels and the Commanders. At least the Chargers play the Commanders in 2025.
