LA Chargers mock draft: Trading down with Steelers to 24
By Jason Reed
The 2021 NFL Draft is getting closer and closer and every weekend here at Bolt Beat I bring you a full seven-round LA Chargers mock draft based on various different situations. Whether it be trading for Orlando Brown or trading down with the Washington Football team, I have covered various different angles.
Today’s mock draft is one of my favorite that I have put together. Earlier in the week, I picked the three most likely teams for the Bolts to trade down with in the draft, including the Pittsburgh Steelers at 24.
The Steelers could potentially do what the Green Bay Packers did last draft and trade up to draft Big Ben’s replacement. Using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine, we traded the 13th overall pick for the 24th and 56th overall pick.
The Steelers move up to get Trey Lance, who was still on the board, jumping other teams that may need a quarterback in the New England Patriots and Washington Football Team.
An 11-pick drop is a big one for the Bolts, however, it creates quite the draft class.
With the 24th overall pick, the LA Chargers select Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
Tom Telesco loves his Notre Dame players and this is the last tackle that, in my opinion, would be worth taking in the first round. The three best tackles left on the board in the mock were Liam Eichenberg, Jalen Mayfield and Dillon Radunz. Radunz is solid but should go in the second and I am not a huge fan of Mayfield.
Eichenberg is an exciting pick as he projects to be a starting-level left tackle as soon as he comes into the league. He does have some things to learn at the next level, especially in the pass-blocking department. However, while some technical things may need work, the proof is in the pudding.
Lmao just saw that Liam Eichenberg (Notre Dame left tackle) hasn't allowed a sack in two years.

Personally, I love this selection. In this specific mock draft, both Rashawn Slater and Samuel Cosmi were picked before 13. If it comes down to Christian Darrisaw, Alijah Vera-Tucker (who may be converted to guard) and Eichenberg as the best options, I would love if the Chargers traded down and just picked Eichenberg.
And with the trade-down, the Chargers have much more offensive line help on the way.
