The LA Chargers are heading into their bye week much earlier than expected.

We knew that the 2020 NFL season was going to be a wonky one because of the coronavirus pandemic and it has already completely moved around the LA Chargers‘ 2020 schedule.

Despite not being one of the teams that have had to deal with positive coronavirus cases, the Chargers’ schedule was significantly altered because of the common opponents that had with those that were impacted.

The LA Chargers were originally slated to return home after two weeks on the road to host the New York Jets. Instead, the Chargers will be heading home but will not be welcoming anyone to SoFi Stadium as they will be taking their bye week that was originally scheduled for Week 10.

The Jets game has been moved back to Week 11. The Chargers now also play the Jaguars in Week 7, the Broncos in Week 8, the Raiders in Week 9 and the Dolphins in Week 10 — a slightly different order than before.

Naturally, like everything in life, there are some pros and cons to the bye week moving up five weeks in the season. Right now, it might seem all positive if we look at it in the short-term. However, in the long-term, there are issues as well.

Let’s get into them, shall we?
