15. 503-yard game vs. Green Bay, 2015
Philip Rivers’ most impressive game from a yardage standpoint came in a loss against the Green Bay Packers in 2015. The 2-3 Chargers went toe-to-toe with the 5-0 Packers and came a touchdown short of beating the team behind a masterful performance from Philip Rivers.
Rivers completed 43 of 65 passing attempts for 503 yards and two interceptions. This is one of just 23 500-yard games in NFL history.
Keenan Allen was particularly lights out in this game as well. Allen hauled in 14 receptions for 157 yards while Antonio Gates and Malcom Floyd both added 95.
14. Trash talking Jay Cutler, 2007
Philip Rivers gave a great Christmas present to Jay Cutler on Christmas Eve in 2007 when the Chargers not only handily defeated the Denver Broncos but when Rivers engaged in perhaps the most memorable trash-talking of his career.
There was no love lost between the Chargers and Broncos and Rivers and Cutler in particular. Rivers heckling Cutler as he was heading off the field after yet another unsuccessful drive is the perfect epitome of the competitor that Rivers is.
13. First playoff victory, 2007-08 playoffs
After dropping one of the most disappointing playoff games to the New England Patriots after going 14-2 in 2006, Philip Rivers earned his first playoff win the following season by defeating the Tennesee Titans in the Wild-Card Round.
Rivers was not particularly great in the game, completing 19 of 30 passes for 292 yards and one touchdown, but it was the first of his five playoff wins and is worth remembering.
