No Shave Norvember

There comes a time in a fan’s life when that individual can only lie to themself so much.  Many people love to live behind the old adage that stats don’t lie.

I’m a numbers’ guy so I must admit that I believe in that saying in 90% of situations.  It is widely known, and ignored, that Norv Turner has the highest winning percentage amongst all of the coaches in the history of the Chargers.

That statistic is a fact.  But the question remains….. when is enough, enough?  When is it time to change purely for the sake of a change being the only forseeable remedy?  When do we toss the numbers aside and look at this from a winner’s standpoint?  A standpoint that is only concerned with one number in mind.  What is that number?  I look at it as the number one.  Meaning one legitimate chance at obtaining the ever elusive Lombardi trophy for the fans of the San Diego Chargers.

In an effort to borrow another saying, I will fall back on winning one game at a time.  The Bolts have dropped three straight.

Despite the fact that some of us had our doubts during both the New Orleans and Denver games, both of those should have been won.  Barring two staright monumental historic collapses, they would have been won.

Couple those games with the fact that I was unable to find even one  individual to select the Browns prior to our last defeat, we should be riding high at this point of the season.  ( Cue the pot jokes )

The fact of the matter is that we are all drowning in a sea of misery and defeat.  My frustration level as a fan has reached a true insanity-like level.  I’m already a little bit crazy so I consider myself to have a point of reference.

To make a long story short, I will be shaving Wednesday morning before my flight to San Diego to see the Chargers play the Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.  That will be the last time that I shave until the Chargers achieve their next victory.

Many of you are familiar with NoShave November.  I am going to steal a bit of it’s phrasing while naming it No Shave NORVember.

Please feel free to join me in NOT shaving until the Chargers achieve their next win.  Although it is “rumored” to happen on this Thursday night, I am no longer going to act like any game should be considered a win for the rest of the 2012 season.

To take this effort to a much larger front….. perhaps you can push it until Norv is fired?  Are you in a position to “not shave” until Norv Turner is relieved of his duties?

Having a wife that prefers me to shave everyday, I made this “deal” female-friendly.  The Chargers win their next game and all the fellas are shaving.  If they don’t….. well then some of us will eventually be forced, by our better halves, to sleep outside.

After losing to the Browns on Sunday, I feel comfortable saying that I’m not the only one that wouldn’t mind hiding behind a beard.

Truth be told this is all in fun.  Feel free to join me or even take it a step further and wait for the inevitable.  Norv will be fired at some point this season, right?

I truly have no idea.  Please feel free to share with me when you believe I’ll be shaving again.

Thanks a lot for reading.
