Norval Eugene Turner, the pressure is on you.
San Diegans, Vegas oddsmakers, surfer dudes and babes alike, and even Stan Humphries are hoping that Norv is the answer.
Around the country, experts feel that the Chargers are a favorite to win it all.
After last season, which included the best regular season record in the NFL and an early exit from the postseason; and after a summer where the GM did everything he could to keep that team together for another run, anything less than at least one playoff victory would be a ginormous failure. That failure will fall squarely on the [...]

Harrington A Harbinger?
Could it be said that there are similarities between Padraig Harrington’s career and the San Diego Chargers franchise history? Could it be that Harrington’s victory be a harbinger for more breakthrough victories for other teams/athletes that have been in contention for years, but have never been able to break through?
The Chargers fit the mold of “one of the best NFL franchises never to have won a Super Bowl” much in the same way that Harrington was one of the best players to have won a major. 7 top ten finishes for Harrington in 36 major starts, is impressive albeit meaningless [...]
Dog Oliver A Bolt
Last week, we picked up UGA corner Paul Oliver in the NFL supplemental draft.
Remember, it was one of the three news stories last Thursday on the ESPN news ticker?
Well, turns out, Oliver’s trying story may have a happy ending. As long as the former Bulldog is not into dog fighting (I still don’t get it).
As columnist Jason Butt notes, Oliver’s a great fit at the nickel position for the Chargers, who are vulnerable in coverage. Having a fifth DB on the field who can rush the QB and make plays on the ball is a nice tool to have [...]
Mike Vick, indicted
It comes to me as no shock at all that Mike Vick has been indicted in the ongoing dog fighting investigation.
After all, he is from Newport News, VA.
Fellow west coasters, you might not have any clue what Newport News is or where you could find it on a map. Take it from me, I’ve gotten gas there many a road trip in my east coast days, nothing good ever comes out of Newport News.
Unless hookers, nascar t’s, 40 oz. Schlitz, fart stench, and thickburgers are high on your list–or you work for Northrop Grummon.
And I used to think Mike [...]
LT in Madden 2008
LT’s ESPN Commercial
One of the best ESPN commercials ever. OK, maybe we are a bit biased. Hey, even though it features L.T., it’s still a classic.
We’re still days from the start of training camp, so it’s time to talk all things non-football, yet football-related.
When the Chargers move into a new stadium, following the 2008 season, their options are Oceanside or Chula Vista. Currently, I live in North County, just a few minutes from Oceanside. Yet, I’m in opposition of the Oceanside stadium site. If the Chargers made their home all the way up here (upwards of an hour drive, depending on traffic on the 5), it would move the team too far from the heart of San Diego. Oceanside is closer to Orange County [...]
SBRFORUM:
New England fixed the only hole on their roster last season by bringing in three new wideouts, Randy Moss and Donté Stallworth among them. Installed as prohibitive favorites now to go all the way and win their fourth Super Bowl title in seven seasons. Will Bill Belichick, Tom Brady & Company follow through?
The Beatles. The Plastic Ono Band.
The NFL’s working-class heroes, the New England Patriots, hope their 2007 season resembles the former more than the latter. Not that there was anything wrong with the Plastic Ono Band, a loose association of musicians formed around John Lennon. [...]
Natrone Means Assault?
This news from our Canadian neighbors to the north:
Tillsonburg : OPP Search for 2 Men Who Broke Into Apartment
Posted by Kate Buick on 2007/7/11 6:10:03
Oxford OPP are searching for 2 men who assaulted a Tillsonburg man in his apartment. Yesterday morning, just before 4am, a 34 year old man was asleep in his apartment on Broadway just south of Brock Street. He woke up to find his door had been forced open and two men were in his living room. One of the suspects punched the victim in the face, and then both men fled. [...]
