Everything the Los Angeles Chargers hope to accomplish this season is still right in front of them. That's pretty impressive considering all of the injuries they've dealt with this year but the job's not done yet. This weekend, they head to Kansas City for a rematch with the Chiefs, who the Bolts took down in the season opener in Brazil.
The vibes are going to be quite different this time around, as it's the Chargers fighting for playoff positioning and the Chiefs fighting simply to stay alive in the playoff hunt. The weather is also going to be a much different story than it was in Brazil, as it's going to be downright frigid in Kansas City this Sunday afternoon.
According to Nick Bender of KMBC 9 News in Kansas City, this could end up being the coldest Chiefs game of the entire year. Bender posted on X that the windchills on Sunday morning will range from -5 to -15 and the temperature at kickoff will be in the upper teens and only climbing into the lower 20s for the entire game. Brrr!
🥶⚠️ Chiefs fans! Be prepared for one of, if not the, coldest games of 2025 so far. Wind chills Sunday morning will range from about -5 to -15 degrees. Temperatures at kickoff are expected to be in the upper teens, only climbing into the lower 20s during the game. @kmbc pic.twitter.com/fwyqJgsUIW

The Chargers aren't exactly a cold-weather team given that they play in Los Angeles where it's typically pretty warm but there's some good news here. The frigid temps at Arrowhead Stadium will hopefully give Jim Harbaugh and the rest of the Chargers offense as good an excuse as any to run the dang ball all afternoon long.
Frigid Week 15 temperatures could finally force Chargers to commit to run game
This is the time to get that rushing attack fired up again, as Omarion Hampton is back and healthy. Hampton's coming off a game where he rushed for 56 yards off 13 carries and it felt like he could have been utilized even more. Considering how dinged up the Chargers o-line is, why is Justin Herbert dropping back to pass when he can just hand it off to Hampton and let the rookie cook?
This needs to be the formula that the Chargers follow when they enter a chilly Arrowhead on Sunday. Harbaugh has always been a run-first kind of guy and there's no better time to implement that strategy than this weekend when it's going to feel like it's in the negatives outside. Don't let Herbert drop back and get crushed in the cold time and time again.
Run the ball, control the clock, and leave the Chiefs' playoff hopes completely dead when the clock strikes zero. Sounds like a pretty perfect strategy.
