Losing in the postseason is tough. But the Los Angeles Chargers, given the tatters that the roster has been in due to injury, were never going to push for a Super Bowl during the 2025 NFL season. They badly needed to get healthy, add a few pieces, and try again next year.
Oh, and make some fairly serious changes.
That started with firing offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who had more than worn out his welcome in Los Angeles. Replacing him with Mike McDaniel, if all goes well, will be an incalculable upgrade for Justin Herbert and Co., as it will change the complexion of the offense.
Beefing up the interior offensive line and the general depth up front will be paramount, as was apparent all season. But what about wide receiver? The Chargers certainly have a slew of solid pass-catchers, but they don't necessarily have "the guy" that they often need in big moments.
Tyreek Hill's cryptic post may mean he wants to join Mike McDaniel in LA
Well, perhaps the McDaniel hire could be the first domino to fall on that front. Following that news, Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, an expected cut candidate this offseason, posted a cryptic message on social media that may have Chargers fans dreaming big.
"Mike to the chargers hm"Tyreek Hill after McDaniel to LAC news
Hill likes to troll a bit on social media, but this may be different. Perhaps he sees the writing on the wall for him in Miami, and he is already plotting out his next move. His relationship with McDaniel, who helped him lead the league in receiving yards and touchdowns in 2023, speaks for itself.

This would be a weird move for the Chargers to make, granted, as they have invested tons of draft capital in the position over the years. Ladd McConkey is still a good receiver, Quentin Johnston had his ups and downs but looked improved, Tre Harris showed promise, and there's always Keenan Allen.
But perhaps Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh want to make a splash and give McDaniel some familiarity on offense. Hill terrorized the AFC West for years, and it may be nice to see the other side of that coin for Chargers fans.
Is a move here guaranteed? Certainly not. But it seems like Hill at least has some peripheral interest in coming to Los Angeles if he is indeed cut by the Dolphins and McDaniel is indeed hired by the Chargers. It would be quite the twist of fate, but perhaps it could be just what Herbert needs.
