The LA Chargers have been linked to several possible wide receiver acquisitions in the media this offseason, ranging from names like DK Metcalf to Davante Adams.
Another name might've been added to the mix on a recent podcast from The Ringer's Bill Simmons. Tyreek Hill's future is still uncertain in Miami given their end to the 2024 campaign and his initial comments about wanting out following Week 18.
Simmons was at the Super Bowl and said he spoke to Tyreek Hill last Friday. As the conversation turned to teams that could challenge the Chiefs next year, Simmons mentioned the Chargers as a team that was improving.
More interestingly, he spoke to a member of Hill's camp that made the link more clear. "Somebody that was with him was like, 'watch out for the Chargers' and walked off," Simmons said.

Hill's contractual situation with Miami or any other team would likely need to be addressed at some point. His 2025 cap hit is the final guaranteed year of his deal at $27.7 million cap hit. After that, his cap hit balloons up to $51.9 million in 2026 with a team being able to save $36 million via cut or trade.
Unlike a Davante Adams or Tee Higgins free agency scenario, the Chargers would obviously need to trade for a name like Metcalf or Hill. Is GM Joe Hortiz comfortable enough to give up premium draft capital to the Dolphins?
Stefon Diggs at the same age Hill is now yielded a 2025 second-round pick last season. Miami could potentially maximize value by dealing Hill prior to the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hill would help out the Chargers wide receiver room as an instant massive upgrade from a speed and separation standpoint. While Hill had a down year in 2024 statistically due to the injuries to both QB Tua Tagovailoa as well as himself, he's still just a year removed from a 2023 campaign with 1861 receiving yards and the highest yards per route run figure of his career (3.72).
Hill would be an aggressive shot to take for a Chargers' front office this offseason, but expect Hortiz and HC Jim Harbaugh to exhaust every potential avenue to upgrading their offense.
