Can't hurt to make the call.

With less than a week to go before the start of the 2025 NFL season, rosters around the league seem to be settled. Teams have shifted their focus from building rosters to building game plans for their Week 1 opponents.

But as we saw last week, a few teams are still willing to make moves. Superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons was traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers in what will go down as one of the biggest deals in the history of the sport.

The Los Angeles Chargers might not have a move of that magnitude on the table, but they could pull off a last-minute trade to strengthen one of the shakiest positions on their roster.

Chargers could spring a trade for Cam Robinson before their season opener

Rashawn Slater's injury is still one of the most devastating moments of the 2025 NFL offseason. It turned a defined strength of the team into a giant question mark. Slater and Joe Alt were expected to be one of the best offensive tackle duos in the league. Now, Alt is switching positions to play on the left while Trey Pipkins III fills in on the right.

For a team that wants to win in the trenches as much as Jim Harbaugh's squad does, that tackle pairing just doesn't cut it. To make matters worse, the Chargers' depth at tackle is frightening. Austin Deculus, who has less than 100 total career snaps on offense, is their only backup.

Unfortunately, there aren't many options available to upgrade the position. Teams aren't trading away a starting offensive tackle, especially right before the season starts.

But a trade for Houston Texans tackle Cam Robinson might just be on the table. Robinson signed with Houston in March, but he seems to have lost his starting spot to rookie Aireontae Ersery.

With options scarce in free agency, Robinson may be the best tackle who could be moved before the start of the season.

The current Texan is far from perfect. He gave up seven sacks last season and is now on his third team in two seasons. He's inconsistent as a pass blocker and has never been an elite run blocker. But he'd be an upgrade over Pipkins.

The Chargers could likely pull off this trade without giving up more than a late-round draft pick. For the sake of protecting Justin Herbert and establishing a strong rushing attack with rookie Omarion Hampton, it might be worth giving the Texans a call.
