Quentin Jammer may have never been a Pro Bowler in the NFL but he is still one of the best cornerbacks in LA Chargers' history. Jammer spent 11 seasons with the Chargers and for most of it, was a respected CB1 in the league.
Jammer recently explained how he tried to retire with the Bolts only for the team to spurn his efforts. While his efforts to return to the Chargers for a 12th and final season didn't work out, Jammer is now trying to get another former Chargers great back with the team.
Antonio Cromartie, who also cracks the list of the best cornerbacks in franchise history, recently put out his resume on social media as he looks for a coaching gig. Jammer saw this and didn't hold back, making it very clear (with NSFW language) that he thinks the Chargers should hire the former All-Pro.
How bout it @chargers stop the bullshit https://t.co/yvuZkMG16w

Quentin Jammer boldly tells the Chargers to hire Antonio Cromartie
Cromartie was one of the best cornerbacks in the league during his time and put together arguably the best single season by a cornerback in Chargers franchise history. The former first-round pick led the league with 10 interceptions (and one pick-six) in 2007 en route to earning his only All-Pro nod.
That one season has made Cromartie a legend for life among Chargers fans. It goes without saying that fans would love to see him back with the team in some capacity.
Cromartie has some coaching experience but his resume is rather thin. Cromartie's first gig was as an intern for the New York Jets in 2018. The former Charger then served as a graduate assistant for Texas A&M for two seasons in 2021 and 2022. Cromartie then left to serve as a defensive analyst for Saint Augustine University (Division II) in 2023.
This Chargers regime has proven that lack of experience won't keep someone from getting a coaching job. After all, Jim Harbaugh hired former 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman to be the Chargers' linebackers coach in 2024. Bowman had one year of coaching experience as a defensive analyst for Maryland in 2023.
Steve Clinkscale is the Chargers' defensive backs coach and there is room to bring in an assistant defensive backs coach under him. This would be Cromartie's best chance, as he is not going to jump straight to being a position coach.
If the Chargers were going to hire Cromartie it probably would have happened by now but there is always time for changes. The Chargers have brought in former players, such as Shawne Merriman, to help during camp before and could look to do so with Cromartie this year.
That would be Cromartie's best chance at impressing the Chargers coaching staff. It would be a return 16 years in the making.
