The Chargers are making their final preparations for the 2026 NFL Draft. The Bolts are conducting their final 30 visits before tomorrow’s deadline.
But much of the homework on the 2026 NFL Draft has already been done. Combine meetings, zoom calls, private workouts, and more are among the interactions that don’t get reported as much. One Chargers prospect raved about that part of the process recently.
Clemson DT Peter Woods was asked by Kay Adams about a draft process meeting that stood out to him on “Up & Adams”:
“When I did my meeting with Coach Harbaugh because he’s at the Chargers now, I think that was kind of cool. Just knowing his college pedigree and everything that he did for the sport in general. I think it was pretty cool being able to meet him," Woods said.
Clemson DT Peter Woods had nothing but nice things to say about Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh
Woods continued to talk about his interview with Harbaugh.
“He’s just about his business,” Woods said. “I think one thing that stood out to me is he cared about me and my family, the things that I value and I hold dear to my heart. Because at the end of the day, he wants to know what drives his players. We spent a lot of the meeting talking about that. I feel like it was a lot less football. Because at the end of the day, like what’s on tape is on tape. I’ve shown for the years that I’ve been at Clemson that I know how to play ball, that I know the game, that I got a high football IQ. So I think it was just kind of getting to know the person. I really appreciated that.”
It’s unconfirmed as to whether Woods is referring to a meeting over Zoom, private workout, 30 visit, or a combine meeting. But either way, it seems like Harbaugh left quite the impression.
Woods has been less mocked in the first round recently due to disappointing athletic testing. But make no mistake that he was one of the best run-stopping DTs in the country last year on tape.
A team would be betting on his pass-rush impact to eventually come along. But the Chargers would certainly be getting a good player if they decided to take Woods at 22. Even if he doesn’t go in round one, he’s unlikely to be available with the Chargers’ second pick at #55. Woods had five sacks, 54 pressures, and 61 run stops in his three seasons at Clemson.
