New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and the team should be taking its next franchise quarterback with the pick. There is some speculation that New England may take Marvin Harrison Jr. or even trade the pick for someone like Justin Jefferson but that would not make a whole lot of sense.

Neither of those guys will be any good if they have Mac Jones throwing them the football. Could the Patriots just sign a veteran like Kirk Cousins to play quarterback? Sure. But the best long-term solution is to draft a QB and get him some weapons to help now while continuing to add resources to the WR room as time goes on.

That is why the Patriots are a potential destination for Williams. New England has the third-most cap space in the league with $78 million in room heading into the offseason. That is more than enough to afford Williams at his price, and even pay a bit more than other competing teams if need be.

The wide receiver class is actually very thin this year so unless the Pats can land Mike Evans, Williams is probably the best they can do in terms of a veteran wide receiver. For a team that might have a rookie quarterback, getting one of the best veteran receivers on the market is huge.
