Kansas City Chiefs

Another potential landing spot for Ekeler this offseason is the Kansas City Chiefs, who would easily be the worst-possible team for Ekeler to sign with (for Chargers fans). Ekeler was already losing favor with the fanbase and if he signed with the Chiefs he would go full heel, even more so than if he signed with the Raiders.

This would be the Melvin Gordon situation times 10 as the Chiefs are actually good and Ekeler would be an annoyingly perfect fit in Kansas City. Alongside Isiah Pacheco, Ekeler would give the Chiefs a prominent 1-2 punch that would allow the offense to remain one of the best in the sport.

The Chiefs thrive when they have a pass-catching back and Ekeler would be a much better version of Jerick McKinnon for the Chiefs. Pacheco could still handle most of the running duties while Ekeler could lean into what he does best as a pass-catching back.

With Travis Kelce only getting older and nobody in the receiver room even stepping up as a true No. 1 option, it makes a lot of sense for the Chiefs to add a pass-catching weapon out of the backfield. Even with an aging Kelce and an underqualified Rashee Rice, Patrick Mahomes would have weapons in all three areas that would benefit from each other.

Kansas City probably won't be the highest bidder for Ekeler but they can still offer him his market value. If his biggest priority is a ring then the Chiefs make the most sense.
