5 running backs that can save the Chargers offense in 2024

Chargers could sign D'Onta Foreman to help at running back
D'Onta Foreman might just be the best sleeper running back to sign for cheap during 2024 free agency. As much as we love Rashaad Penny here at Bolt Beat, it is probably time to stop that dream after he hasn't contributed much to the Philadelphia Eagles this season.
That leaves Foreman, who has made a career out of being a rotational running back who picks up yards for his offense. Whether it be behind Derrick Henry in Tennessee or behind Christian McCaffrey in Carolina, Foreman has been a quality backup who does not have many miles on his legs.
This season Foreman has been a backup for the Chicago Bears and the results have been pretty solid all things considered. Foreman has only gotten 92 carries on the Bears but he has picked up 381 yards with four touchdowns.
Heading into Week 13, there were 41 running backs with at least 90 carries on the season. Among those 41 running backs, Foreman's 56.5% success rate is fifth. He is one spot below Gus Edwards, who will probably sign for twice as much as Foreman will. Ekeler ranks 34th and that is before Sunday's disaster.
If the Chargers are looking for a veteran on the cheaper side that can split duties with Spiller and/or a rookie draft pick then Foreman might just be the No. 1 option.
