The LA Chargers open the 2024 season at home against the Las Vegas Raiders in a game that will be more emotionally charged than most Week 1 games. Not only is it the start of the Jim Harbaugh era in LA, but those in the locker room are looking for revenge for last season's 63-21 drubbing.

SoFi Stadium is bound to be a packed house on Sunday as Chargers fans and Raiders fans both show up to support their favorite team. The Chargers have had much better luck of having home crowds since moving to SoFi Stadium but the Raiders are one team that always tends to fill the building with black and gold (something they struggle to do at their own home stadium).

Despite being a covered stadium with a roof, the weather on Sunday can actually impact the game, and more so, the fan experience. SoFi Stadium is an open-air stadium that definitely feels the impact of the outside conditions and on Sunday, those conditions are going to create a miserable fan experience.

Chargers-Raiders weather report is bad news for fans in attendance

The temperature at kickoff is forecasted to be 94 degrees Fahrenheit in Inglewood, California with 41% humidity. It will feel like it is 96 degrees at kickoff and is never going to dip below feeling like it is 94 degrees throughout the game.

That kind of heat mixed with the stickiness of the humidity is going to create an environment that is much closer to Florida weather than California weather. While Florida gets more humidity, neither Florida game is projected to reach the 90s. The Chargers-Raiders game is by far the hottest of the week.

If you have never been to SoFi Stadium you may not think this is a big deal since it is a covered stadium. You will be able to feel all 94 degrees of that heat with all 41% of that humidity in the seats. Fans in the lower bowl will not feel it as much as those in the upper seats but it is still going to be a hot day for everyone involved.

Plus, SoFi Stadium's ceiling is made from glass. So while you are covered by the conditions above, the sun still beams down into the stadium during the hottest part of the day. This is not a traditional domed stadium where the outside conditions are completely separate from what is felt inside.

It is going to be a hot one and with the Raiders being from Las Vegas, it really does not serve as an advantage to either team. But it will certainly impact the fans in the stands.

This week probably isn't the week to wear an outfit that heats up easily. Even a jersey might be too hot. This is a shorts and t-shirt game if there ever was one.
