2. Kendrick Bourne

While we are on the topic of the New England Patriots, the Chargers could also look to add depth in place of Mike Williams' injury by bringing in another wide receiver. If the Chargers are not interested in Henry then they should be interested in Kendrick Bourne.

Many Chargers fans want to see the team reunite with Adrian Phillips but that is not as likely as he is not on an expiring deal. Bourne is on an expiring deal and both sides have more reasons to make this move instead of a Phillips move.

Bourne has not done much of anything for the Patriots this season and it is becoming clear that it might not really matter what receivers Mac Jones has. This is not a case where the Patriots want to keep weapons in town to aid in Jones' development, as he is not the quarterback of the future.

If anything, this could be a sneaky way for the Patriots to commit to tanking for a franchise QB in the 2024 NFL Draft. Having Jones or Bailey Zappe under center throwing to bad receivers is the perfect way to ensure that the team doesn't win more than four games in 2023.

There is an obvious open line between the Chargers and the Patriots after the JC Jackson trade last week. With the Pats falling to 1-4 and having a tough schedule ahead, the Chargers must keep this line of communication open.
