It took a historic second-half comeback by the Jacksonville Jaguars to knock the Los Angeles Chargers out of the playoffs this season.

The early odds on Super Bowl LVIII suggest that oddsmakers expect the Chargers to return to the postseason again in 2023.

LA has a 22-to-1 chance to win the big game next year, according to DraftKings Sportsbook, a slight drop-off from its 14-to-1 chances headed into this past season.

Chargers aren't a longshot to win Super Bowl

Even with the odds going the wrong way for Los Angeles this offseason, the Chargers aren’t a big underdog to win a championship.

Their +2200 odds are the eighth-longest right now, just behind the Baltimore Ravens (+2000) and the Dallas Cowboys (+1400). With just four other AFC teams – the Chiefs, the Bills, the Bengals and the Ravens – ranked above the Chargers, pundits are putting the odds on LA making the postseason.

It’s not a far-fetched gamble, with several crucial players returning.

If the Chargers can retain some key pieces on defense, like unrestricted free agents Kyle Van Noy and Nasir Adderley, there should be no reason to expect any sort of drop-off.

Justin Herbert is expected back along with his full complement of weapons (pending the status of Keenan Allen, who could be a cap casualty).

The team even overhauled its offensive coaches, bringing in offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier, both from the Cowboys.

With greater than 20-to-1 odds, there could be significant value in jumping in on betting the Chargers now.
